(6) ~we made it - Romania 🇷🇴Mission

Tuesday, January 14, 2020
Since I didn't actually think we would make it out of the States on the 12th I was surprised that we did and then I was even more surprised that we made it to Romania 🇷🇴 . . . but we did! Our 5 bags didn't make it but since we always try to be prepared for overnight sleeping without our luggage we were A-OK for the night!
Elder and Sister Richardson picked us up around midnight and took
us to a nice Marriott Hotel for the night.  They are both so wonderful
and kind. Unfortunately, for us, they will have served 18 months as
Humanitarian Missionary's come this March and they'll be going
home.  Even though we just met them it feels like we've known
each other for a lifetime; we will be so sad to see them leave.
I'm super excited to be here and to begin serving ~ Romania is
much more advanced than Cambodia and even Thailand so that
is a nice advantage for me! I feel at home here and I love it!
If you never made it to Thailand while we were there (and regretted it 😏), it's time to start saving your money and plan a trip over to Romania ~ we'll take you all over Romania (especially to Transylvania) and Hungary.  You can use our apartment as your homebase! Hopefully we'll be great hosts and tour guides in no time at all!
And for those of you who did visit us in Thailand (or Cambodia) we are already planning on your trip out here (especially you kids)! As you know we have
plenty of room! Even though we just arrived I can tell it's going to be great!
I can't wait for everyone to go on their missions (or their 2nd, 3rd or 4th)
~ I feel like we are on a 2 year vacation (a "working" vacation 😜)!

Below are the buildings/street leading down to our apartment!
It was so cute as the Richardsons kept telling us that if we didn't like our apartment that we could change it.  The AP's picked it out and they were so
worried that it wouldn't be to our liking. We assured them that we have stayed
and lived in some interesting places so not to worry as we would be fine.  What a surprise when we went inside our apartment ~ it is sooooo nice. I can’t believe it.  It's paradise; two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a long open living/dining room. It’s spacious and big enough to have activities here for the Missionaries or YSA groups. I guess with only 30 active members we could have a ward activity here, too 😂😂😉! Needless to say the drive in was not a realistic view of our beautiful apartment complex! It's wonderful and exceeds our expectations (by a long shot)!
We dropped off our belongings at our apartment (all our suitcases showed up at the hotel this morning) and hit the road running. It is a new apartment to our mission so we had to go buy bed pads, sheets, pillows/cases, converter/adapter plugs, duvet, towels, and a few other items! We’ll also need to get our car, metro cards, bus passes, grocery, convert our money to lei, etc., this week. Busy days!
The Richardsons were phenomenal! Of course, we couldn't have done it without
them.  The bonus was that they are an AWESOME couple and it was a delight to
spend the week with them! There is also an IKEA here so we felt right at home (and we were able to buy the majority of items there, too)!  My knees were aching a bit so I'll try to take it more easy this coming week. I certainly don't feel old but my body begs to differ.
Is this gorgeous or what!?! This is our evening view
looking out from our kitchen window each night. Pure beauty!
