~the love boat (1)

We had a wonderful time on our very first cruise: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto
Vallarta!  We went with Allen and Marie Adams and got to meet and get to know their
wondeful friends! We've decided that this was the best kind of vacation to take - all the
food you can eat, not having to move sleeping quarters, games, elegant dinners each
night, dancing, movies, swimming, etc., all in ONE place . . . . . . .

PLUS going on shore to experience the traditions and customs of Mexico!
Rob, Scott, Billy and Allen
The boys were getting ready to play some ping pong! Jamie, Claudia and Marie
We were surrounded by miles and miles of ocean!
As you looked out over the water it was calm, soothing and peaceful.
Food, food and more food!  "Almost" to beautiful to eat!
The service was impeccable!
Our first outing in Cabo San Lucas was in a boat that had a glass bottom
that we could look through to see all kinds of amazing fish and other sea creatures.
Located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, Cabo San Lucas is one of Mexico’s leading tourist destinations. Its unique combination of beautiful beaches, desert terrain, and mountains are a nature lover’s delight.  One of its most popular eco-attractions for tourists and sea lions alike is El Arco de Cabo San Lucas (or “Lands End, Cabo San Lucas”), a gorgeous rock formation found at Cabo’s southern tip. Renowned for its marine life, diving, and surfing, Cabo also features some of the best fishing on the Pacific Coast, while at night, the city turns into one of the world’s great party places—famous for celebrity sightings and fantastic restaurants. https://www.azamaraclubcruises.com/cabo-san-lucas-mexico-cruises
It was such a blast hanging out with everyone.
The weather was fantastic and each day just got better and better!

Doing some "Cliff" jumping πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰!

Here I am, jumping in the water (with my nose plugged), Billy diving and me sliding down the coolest slide ever (we need one of these in our back yard)!

Such a fun resort!

Allen and Billy playing some beach volleyball
and loving it (check out those amazing calf muscles!)!

Marie and I walked all over and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.

Billy made a new friend who kept creeping up to get closer and closer to his face.

Some of the boys did a switch-a-roo.
Shelley & Scott, Bobby and Marie, Allen and Claudia,
Bob and Maloni, Billy & Jamie

Each night for dessert I would order a little bowl of ice cream, but as the
waiter got more familiar with us he would make my portions a little
bigger until, by the end of the cruise, I had a pretty hefty amount (so
much for trying to watch my weight)!  It was pretty funny (and great!)

We were transported from our cruise ship to the island by a small cabin boat!

We had such fun as we strolled and shopped along the Malecon boardwalk
of Puerto Vallarta. The cobblestone streets of Old Vallarta were a perfect
place to browse and see the flea market and to buy some handmade crafts.
Mayloni and Bobby Edwards, Billy and Jamie Matthews,
Rob and Claudia Cobabe, Allen and Marie Adams and Scott and Shelly Carter
While everyone played volleyball or just relaxed on the beach, Shelley took
me in the water for my first real experience in the ocean - it was a bit scary
for me at first as the waves were so powerful, but after awhile I began to
relax and enjoy the sand and sensation of the sea!

So much fun . . . to be continued.

Love Boat (2)

May 1991
Mazatlan: Historic capital, beach resort, lively romantic town.
Whatever you look for in a Mexican vacation, it's on the Menu in Mazatlan! Returning
visitors rave about the welcoming Mazatlecos, who treat you like old amigos, as well as
the beaches, the food, the weather, the music and the feeling of never wanting to leave.
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g150792-Mazatlan_Pacific_Coast-Vacations.html
Mazatlan is a Nahuati word meaning “place of feet”.
The city was founded in 1531 by an army of Spaniards
and indigenous settlers.  By the mid-19th century,
a large group of immigrants arrived from Germany.
It was so amazing meeting the locals and shopping until we could
no longer carry any more purchases and had to go back to the
boat ~ (actually I think we ended up going to the beach and
watching the boys play volleyball and splashed in the water)!
BILL'S BIGGEST NIGHTMARE.
It doesn't matter where we go but somehow Billy gets roped into going up on stage.
As he sits in the audience, as inconspicuous as can be, he always is chosen for
any and all audience participation.  To say he dislikes this is an understatement!
As funny as it is I do feel sorry for the poor guy!
Up on the deck for some dancing, relaxing and visiting.  The weather was gorgeous,
the music softly playing and friends making memories. What more could you ask for!
Claudia is one of the sweetest people I know.  She began dancing with this nice gentleman
but after 3 dances I cut in the relieve her.  I think she would have continued all night as she
didn't want to hurt his feelings.  After I danced one song with him and we started the 2nd,
Billy (my hero) cut in so he could dance with his favorite girl!
Shelley and Scott were so fun to get to know.  I think cruises are the very
best vacation as strangers become long time friends! I'm not sure what I was
telling Billy about my finger but it must have been so important as you
can tell he is very intent on listening and observing the situationπŸ’˜!
It seems like everyone gains weight on a cruise ~ how could you not when there is food available 24/7.  There is food of every kind during mealtime and it is always soooooo delicious.  But regardless of how stuffed we might have been we managed to always have a midnight snack to keep us going!  We played a ton of card games and explored the boat in the still of the night!  I don't think we ever did anything mischievous, but then again we didn't keep a 24 hour watch on Allen πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‰πŸ˜!

Leaving Puerto Vallarta was hard as our vacation was coming to a end.
Billy took the opportunity to relax and catch up on some reading
(which surprisingly enough we were so busy having fun with our little
group that he didn't have much downtime). Puerto Vallarta was so gorgeous.
It's a beach resort city situated on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahia de Banderas.
What an amazing experience to have had and such fun friends to share it with.
We hope to get this group together again for many more fun adventures!
Sad farewells to our wonderful friends ~ take care, until we meet again!
