~here we go again

Mission to India postponed - Retina Detachment - 2nd Surgery - Gas Bubble - Fun Visitors!
As we traveled up north Friday morning to drop off yet another load to the Alpine basement and to go to my Monday morning doctor appt, my eye started acting just a little weird.  I can only describe it as feeling like the white part of an eyelash curler was settling in the bottom of my left eye (same eye as the first surgery).   By Tuesday night the air-bubble had finally dissolved (after it had shrunk down to the size of a pencil eraser that morning) but there was still a "haze" over my eye and little dots everywhere (blood from the tear) but I at least could read my text messages without putting on my reading glasses! ~ Great Progress!!

Lots of unloading at Alpine and my eye kept acting a little weird but we kept moving forward.  Sunday we had been asked to speak in Sacrament Meeting ('Farewell' talk for our Mission) and my eye got to the point of a blob crossing over into my vision so I had to continually put my reading glasses on then off again.  Quite annoying! The next day we went to my 3 week followup from the tears in my Retina only to find out that my retina had detached.  We scheduled surgery for the next day, Tuesday, April 25th (2017) 👀!!!  The surgery went well and Dr. Faber put in a gas bubble so I again had to keep my head down for the week and sleep on my right side.

Robbie, Kelli, Linc and London came for a visit and swim - I think Linc thinks Nana and Papa live in hotels all the time, but with a hot tub and pool I think he thinks it's pretty sweet!

Mary Phelps came for a visit and brought some delicious 'no-bake' healthy chocolate cookies.  It was so fun catching up and visiting with her - you can't tell now but when we lived in Thailand everyone mistook us for each other - I loved it as Mary is beautiful inside and out!!!

The Schulthess' also stopped by with a tray of fresh fruit - soooooo delicious! Good company, sweet food and fantastic friends! Couldn't ask for more!  We stayed in the hotel for about 15 days then stayed at Blaine's home.  He so graciously offered it to us and we were so grateful to him!  He lives with Paula and Dan but keeps the home available for family (and us 😉)!

~Two for the Price of One

May 13, 2017
Beautiful Marcie is pregnant with (had) TWINS!

Marcie has had a hard pregnancy both physically and mentally.  Because we had put our mission papers in we would only be able to spend a week with the new babies before we left.  I am writing
this blog 8 months after the twins were born and it is crazy how the Lords hand has been seen in this whole process.  I do not know the rhyme or reason for how and why everything happened the way
it did or understand it completely but we've seen many blessings and miracles in every step of the way. The weirdest of all is that I never felt like we should postpone our mission.  I felt that that in itself was odd because it wouldn't be a hardship to wait a couple weeks or months to go to India and I wanted to be there to see those new babies and to help Marcie, but neither Bill nor I ever felt like we should change things (and thank goodness for that ~ although at the time it was more than strange in every way).  So Marcie and Jamis planned and organized the delivery and had church members, school friends and neighbors lined up to help them when the babies were born.  The closer it got to us coming home from Cambodia we figured out that we could go into the MTC then take a week to go to Marcie's then head off to India from CA where we would have a day to meet with the couple we were replacing and go over the schedule and introductions of those we would be working with.  Well, low and behold, it was more than a blessing that this was our plan because when my eye went all haywire 3 weeks before the twins were born and I was unable to travel for months after, we could see how, by Marcie not counting on us for help when the twins were born, she already had all her ducks in a row so that her little family were all set for the twins arrival without my help.  It is crazy how it all transpired.  We have had to withdrawal our mission papers indefinitely as I still do not have a lens in my left eye; I'm not sure when I will have surgery #5 to replace it, as I still have inflammation in my eye which has not subsided since the last couple surgeries.  Fortunately, I can travel and we were able to go out to CA twice to be with Marcie and family and they have come to Utah twice as well! Feeling Blessed!
