~Do you feel loved

2016
Happy Birthday Dad! You're the best! Thanks for always supporting and guiding my life and helping me to find what I want to be. I appreciate all you do that I notice and for all the things that I don't notice. I'm grateful for a great example in my life and I strive to be like you everyday! You're the best and every time I think of some business idea or direction i want to take in my life regarding my career, I think about things you've taught me.  I love ya and I hope you have a great birthday!

Happy Bday Pops!!!
I'm sitting here in my long layover in Korea trying to avoid the smell of kimchi from the cafe by my gate. I'm excited to see you guys tomorrow and take you out for a bday burger on me and Swensons on me. Sorry if this email gets to you late, not sure what day or time it is there yet but I've almost hit the 20 hour travel time.
I know I don't say it enough but im so happy you are my dad. I'm glad that you and I are on this crazy adventure together because it's given me a chance to spend more time with you then I would have been able to if we were just living normal lives. There are not many fathers on the planet that would be willing to take a risk on their son and sacrifice money and time like you have done for me. I want you to know that I think about this often and think to some future day way done the road when I have my own sons and I hope that I can be as selfless as you have been to me by create opportunities for them like you've done for me. Thank you so much.
I also want to thank you for your friendship. I don't think you had a special formula when it comes to us boys but you're not just my dad but your also my friend and I enjoy spending as much time with you as I can.
Happy birthday and thanks for everything you do. I will see you tomorrow and we can have a proper celebration.
Love ya dad

Hey Dad,
Happy Birthday! I hope it's a great one celebrating over in Cambodia with Mom! I'm just sitting here in the bathroom watching Linc as he takes a bath, so thought it was  as good as time as any to write you a birthday message.
First, I thought I'd catch you up on my life. Things have been going well. Since London was born, things have been a bit rough, but transition always is. We've stopped all projects and kind of gone into a survival mode. I think in a week or two, things will be in a good place and I can start up on more projects like the basement and such. Thanks for helping me on the basement. It really is a big help, and I think it was the jumpstart that we needed to really bust it out and finish it.
Thanks for helping on all the house for that matter. You can never know with the housing market, but I think this house is going to be one of the best investments I've ever made thanks to your help remodeling it. I figure if I can make $100k on it, then it could really help set up my housing situation for the rest of my life even, which is crazy but true. So thanks again for taking the time to help but also teach me how to do all the projects. We couldn't have done it without you!
I love to read about the dairy. I'm torn every time I read them because I can't go over there permanently but it sounds like such a great opportunity and so much fun. Don't get me wrong, with my family is where I want to be, but it sounds like a great adventure. Maybe when my kids are a bit older, I can try out an adventure like that. But you and Mom have been very inspirational to me in all your entrepreneurial efforts. I think its given me a lot of confidence that having my own business can work, as well as it is OK to "fail" or not have success right away.
As I look at where I am as a person and where others seem to be, I've wondered why I am able to have the perspective and success in life that I do. I think a big reason is I've always felt confident in myself. Which is huge, when people let self doubt come into their lives, its hard for them to function at a high level. It's hard to pin point exactly where my confidence comes from. I think its mostly from the gospel and from you and Mom. You guys have always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted, and suggested things that would be major accomplishments nonchalantly, thinking of course that I could do it. One example of this was the suggestion for me to become an anesthesiologist. I always felt smart enough to go to medical school because of you and Mom. And of course, you and Mom teaching me the gospel has given me an eternal perspective on things. Thanks for installing that in me.
Side note, yesterday we were with our friends and I was bragging about how cool you are. How growing up, people would always ask what you do for work, and you would just say, "I work for the government." ha. It's the true sign of coolness when you have something so cool (like working for the FBI), but don't need to brag or even tell people about it. Pretty cool, and I have ton of memories of you saying that to everyone. It was pretty cool.
Well, lastly, thanks for being my friend. I don't know when it exactly happened, sometime around when we started to go to BYU football games together with Grandpa, that I think we started to become real friends. It's meant a lot to me, as I don't have a lot of friends. Not in a sad way, in a "I don't like a lot of people, and I don't want to waste my time hanging out with people that I don't like" way. Its been great talking to you about business, religion, sports, ethics, etc. I really enjoy the time that you and Mom spend coming out to us.
Thanks for everything Dad. You've been a great Father to me, and I try to mirror the things you did with me with Lincoln. This is just a few of the things that have come to my mind while writing this, but I'm sure there is so much more. I love you and am excited to see you guys in March!
Love,
Robbie

Happy Birthday Dad!
Hope you have a wonderful day!  Thank you so much for being such a great father.  I have learned so much from your example of what it means to be a good husband and father. You have always been a great example of determination, hard work, and wisdom.  Grace and I appreciate everything that you have done for us and our family and we couldn't be where we are without you.  We look forward to you guys going on your mission to India and will love telling Sadie and Isla all about what there Grandparents are doing and the sacrifices they are making for the Lord. Hope you have a wonderful Birthday and Grace and I wish you all the best luck with your future projects and goals.
Happy Birthday! Love Willie

Happy Birthday dad!
Hope it was full of exciting moped rides and cooperating cows!
It was great to have you out for Christmas and hopefully we will see you again before your next 2 yr adventure.
You've put a new spin on the word retirement and while most people are slowing down at your age you only seem to be picking up speed.
Love you dad and happy birthday!

Happy birthday bill. Hope  it was a good Cambodia birthday, Jamis

I've been meaning to write you and mom a longer letter of gratitude for all you guys did for us while you were out here.  And I still want to.  But I'll just say quickly how much I totally appreciate everything you did for us while you were here.  The kitchen faucet, the boys bathroom faucet, the electrical outlets, the outside porch lights, the pressure in my shower, th  e vacuum repair that you paid for....I know there is more, and none of it went unnoticed.  We feel pretty independent out here, but when you guys come out here and do those acts of service we realize how much we really do need your help and love.  I feel so much love for you guys and am so grateful that you were willing and able to help us like that.  Thank you so much!  I am very lucky to have such a smart, handy, and capable dad.
I love you!
Mindy

Hello Brother, So another Birthday comes and goes. Who would have guessed you would be in Cambodia this year. You like has certainly recently had its adventures. It also seems like many more to come. I am proud to be your brother but mostly best friends. I look forward to times ahead post retirement that we can spend more time together and have adventures  together. I guess it will have to wait until at least until your little trip to India is complete. I guess there might be a chance it will be our time to enjoy the mission field.  I love you bro and pray for your success and safety. Hope your day is filled with love and sweet messages. Maybe even some chocolate milk.  Take care my friend. Tim.
