~down on the farm

3/21/17
We had 2 groups from Lindsay's school, ZISPP Zion International School
of Phnom Penh, (where she taught last year), come out to Moo Moo Farms for a field trip!
This is the first group; they are all so adorable!  Some have never seen a cow before let alone milk one!

We start them off outside by showing them the cows that are feeding and explain how
they are allowed to feed almost all day long and why!  Later on Billy goes over the
process of how we make our feed and how important it is to have nutritious
ingredients in order to keep the cows healthy and their milk supply up.
Before the cows are milked the cow's teats are washed with disinfectant and then wiped dry.
We explain to the kids about how the dairy cow needs to be milked every day (otherwise
they will stop producing milk and/or develop problems with their teats).

They were able to feed the baby calves with a big calving bottle.  The calves had the tendency to lick
the children with their long tongues ~ this freaks the kids out until they realize it is because they
are so salty and delicious to the cows ~ after that they were anxious to be licked!
This was our second group with the same teachers ~
a little smaller and a bit more calm (but still excited)!
